AnonymousBeer and wine should be available at corner stores. Lets get out of the dark ages!

AnonymousI fully support this petition. Its time the do gooders in Ontario woke up. The government can still get its tax dollars. And maybe it will give the police something to do, cracking down on underage drinking.
arnold kimmelIt is hard to believe that the Government of a struggling Province would protect a foreign owned monopoly at the cost of Ontarians. The ripple effect of wider beer distribution would create countless jobs in the province - for a better Ontario

Ryan LuttonI used to work for the Beer Store, and even then I found it ridiculous that it was the only place you could buy beer in Ontario. Hopefully, selling beer in corner stores and supermarkets will give the smaller breweries (which brew far superior beers to those brewed by Molson, Labbats and Sleeman) a chance to expose their beer to a wider market.
Kimberly CrawleyThe Beer Store isn't owned by the government like the LCBO. Read about that in the Toronto Star. The Beer Store is a monopoly owned by the major beer companies which are now no longer Canadian owned. We've got a backwards situation in Ontario.

AnonymousBeer profit should be kept in Canada
b. Probertthey are very inconveniently located: thousands of people live in the condos at college park - the nearest beer stores are either Wellesley St. or Dundas St.. They also often have very poor customer service, like many monopolies. There is often only one employee and a long line of customers stretching to the door.

Ken PartridgeIts about time . If it can be done in Quebec and many states, why not here!!!!
Melissa HillierThere is no reason beer should not be sold in the local convenience stores as it is in Quebec. It would help the small businesses and there is no reason to fear that young people would be any more exposed to alcohol than they are now.
Andrew BallDown with the monopoly of cruddy beer choices!
AnonymousAfter reviewing the breakdown of costs between Ontario and Quebec, additional to the true ownerships of "The Beer Store", I find it difficult to understand just how this is regulated by the government, when Ontarians are being gauged so much ... especially when sales are much higher in Ontario when compared to Quebec...

AnonymousCompetition makes everything better for all of us. It also helps support independent beer makers who are hurt by the big makers.

Phil BishopThis is long overdue! July 4 and 5 / 08 saw line ups out the doors at the beer stores i went to . I was looking for a different type of beer , so after waiting in line for 15 mins. on Friday , the guy tells me , Sorry , we're out of the type you want. I ask for another , he goes into the back , comes back a few minutes later then says , it's buried out back and we can't get to it. Nice customer service! The shelves were empty also in this same store (as was the other store i was in)so most of the time was wasted by employees going off cash to get beer in the back . Very unorganized and i do think it's time to move out of the dark ages Ontario .
Claus MohrBeer and wine should be in all grocery stores, just like anywhere else in the world. Competition will improve choice and coasts.
Wayne C BaldwinThe monopoly currently enjoyed by foreign owned companies on the beer store is rediculous. It is bad enough that we are currently being held hostage by the petroleum companies at least give us a break on our beer
