Comments: I say NO ! to Blended Scotch Whisky. Care abbout consumers that they can also easily understand in the future what it mean, when spirit comes from one distillery, or one cask , or is blended in the known way.

Comments: The Blended malts term introduces the potential confusion between vatted malts and blends. Vatted malt has been used for years and forcing bottlers to change into an IMO inferior label is a baaad idea.

Comments: I fully support this petition. Blended malt scotch whisky is a fully confusing term which would be highly problematic in the marketing of single malt whisky.

Comments: I can see no value in the introduction of the term 'blended malt whisky'. Blended whisky is known to be a mix of garin and malt whiskies, malt whisky is, by definition, the product of pot still distillation of malted barley only . A single malt is the product of a single pot still distillery. A vatted malt is a mix of the malt whiskes from more than one pot still distillery. This classification has been understood since blended whiskies were first introduced to the market over a hundred and fifty years ago and I can see no reason for changing the existing nomenclature. It is confusing and unnecessary and I am totally against it. I cannot imagine what the SWA is hoping to achieve by this proposed legislative change other than alienating the consumer. I have never been totally convinced as to what a 'pure malt' is supposed to be, and am reasonably happy that this term be dropped. I would hope that distilleries did not market 'impure malts' and therefore feel that this descriptive term is irrelevant.
