Too many administrators added just in the last 3-4 years! We all want a decent retirement wage, but increases too large for administrators. My vote for a referendum will be a 'no'.Flag

Name: Angelique Mangrum on Feb 8, 2004State: ILComments: While I believe that balanced budgets are important and cuts are sometimes necessary, I also believe that children should not suffer due to money mismanagement. I especially believe that no disabled students should be impacted by any cuts. The proposal to cut any teachers or activities for disabled students, or any student is unacceptable when there are plenty of other areas to cut first. In the cases of disabled students, these children need stability which was not shown during the recent teacher strikes when all children missed school because teachers and administrators used the children as pawns because they couldn't hash out a budget ahead of time, and now they are being used as pawns again because of the budget. There should also be no classes such as music, art, or any other activity for students that should suffer. Just because the adults can't get their acts together and be responsible, doesn't mean the children should suffer the consequences.Flag

I for one am tired of this "Spend Spend" attitude and want administration to be accountable for their actions and our tax dollars.Flag

Name: Diane Sleger on Mar 2, 2004State: ILComments: We have lived in Hillhurst for 15 years. Before and in 1992, the junior high needed an well deserved addition, since 6th graders had to attend with 7th and 8th graders. Since then, the Three Oaks school was built, another addition to the old junior high, now Prairie Hill for 5th and 6th grades, a new Junior High was built. The teachers went on strike to make more than Crystal Lake U46. Now, they are threatening to close a older grade school. This sure sounds familiar, we used to live in Arlington Heights. The same thing happened with grade schools and high schools. We chose Cary because of the comparative value of a 4 bedroom plus house in the Northwest Suburbs, from Arlington Heights to Palatine. Unfortunately now, our taxes have made up the difference. This new tax referendum will have an approx. $700.00 yr. increase on our taxes, not counting what H.S. District 155, McHenry County College, Algonquin Township, the county, the city and Cary Park District adds on. Soon, we will have to reconsider if we want to stay in Cary. District 26 may have had this all prearranged in a politcal grand plan to begin with. Or obviously, it's poor planning which could have a negative impact on the home values if a lot of us sell and move back to Lake or Cook County to avoid the high taxes.Flag
