Name: Heather Deutsch on Oct 28, 2003State: NYComments: There is something terribly wrong when smokers would have more freedom in Russia than in the U.S. This is your chance to prove that Republicans mean it when they talk about getting gov't OUT of our lives and trusting people to make their OWN choices, instead of choosing for us by using taxes to socially engineer us into submission. The tax being proposed tells us that your belief in capitalism, FREEDOM of choice, and EQUAL treatment under the law, only applies to what you want for people in other countries - but not for citizens of the U.S. if we smoke. Apparently, U.S. citizens who smoke no longer have these rights. Maybe it's time for us to ask President Putin for political asylum. We would get freedom and Russia would get talented entrepreneurs. Due to your arrogance and bullying, it will be America's turn to experience a 'brain drain'. In the meantime, you should think carefully about what you are planning to do to millions of U.S. citizens. We vote.Flag

Name: Michelle Nixon on May 3, 2007State: AZComments: i am so tired of being made to feel that i am a bad or horrible person because i choose to smoke. you have never heard of a smoker plowing through a group of people because they were lighting a cigarette. forcing someone to quit to adhere to nonsmokers sense of my air should be smoke free is no better than Gestapo tactics. i thought this was the land of the free i guess that smokers aren't covered by the constitution's persuit of life liberty and happiness but only if you don't smoke!Flag

Name: Anonymous on Aug 22, 2007State: VAComments: It is about time that the goverment stops treating smokers as third rated citzens. There are more deaths from Alcohol/Whiskey then from smoking. It is each persons right what they want to put into there body and it is about time that the government and the non-smokers realize that. When a person at work has to walk off of the companies property on a break during work just to enjoy a cigarette is totaly outrageous. Also, it is the people that has stopped smoking that is totaly behine this cause. We the people who do smoke are paying more taxes then the non-smokers but the goverment just wants more and more taxes to increase the pay mainly.Flag
