Name: Anonymous on Oct 3, 2008Comments: I think this will be a serious long term detriment to the successful development of Chestnut and Market Streets east of Broad Street. It will not bring new dollars into the economy, but simply recycle the dollars of residents who are already here -- especially the most vulnerable.Flag

Name: Michael Wakely on Oct 3, 2008Comments: As a Center City resident who weekly shops at 10th & Market and in Chinatown, including the neighboring area, I adamantly oppose a slots parlor at the Gallery at 10th to 11th on Market Street. This is NOT in the best interest of the city as a whole and especially the nearby Chinatown community. This proposal is a yet-again thoughtless, "groping for straws" quick-fix on the part of the elected officials of our city and state who must show more intelligence and leadership. I likwise reject any casino gambling within 1500 feet of homes, schools, and places of worship, which certainly includes Chinatown and neighboring communities.Flag

Name: Gloria J. Inverso on Oct 3, 2008Comments: I am strongly opposed to gambling within 1500 feet of homes, schools, places of worship & hospitals. Other types of businesses that pollute our neighborhoods with chemical toxins are prohibited from disrupting the safety, health & tranqulity of our existence. Please do not have the casinos steal these virtues from us, like a thief in the night. What appears to be a hardship for the casinos now, will mount into thousands of hardships for the neighborhoods surrounding these establisments. Search your interest to please two casinos versus the thousands of people who voted for you & trust you to consider their needs.Flag

Name: Kenneth Staas on Oct 3, 2008Comments: There are plenty of spaces just outside of the city that could house these establishments with out destroying peoples lives. The city would like more people to move back..Well let me tell you that is not going to do it. Please rethink this. I live blocks from the site where Suger House Casino is planned and With housing cost skyrocketing I cannot afford to move.. The Rich developers of Sugarhouse can. NO CASINOS******Flag

Name: Jean C Drake on Oct 3, 2008Comments: Any gambling facilities within walking distance of my house would create nuisances for me and my family, and I am certain would reduce the resale value of our property. If a slots parlor or other gambling facility is to be built in Center City, we would immediately have to put our house up for sale and move out of the city, after being happy residents for over 45 years.Flag
