I am well into my seventies and I have seen a lot, But never something along the lines of these terrible car stereos. People keep referring to the "loud music" coming out of them. But it's not music at all. A car stereo is only the simple machine that these hostile, extremely anti-social people use to weaponize sound. Because that is what the sound is. A weapon used to destroy the quality of people's lives, pure and simple. It's very efficiant. It's disguised as just music coming from a car, but it is done on purpose by the drivers to inflict suffering on people who are forced to listen to it on a daily and nightly basis. What is so sick is that these drivers know exactly what they are doing and they derive pleasure from it. . When you enjoy making other fellow human beings miserable whether it's by terrorizing people with noise or some other method, you are quite simply a sociopath. You don't have to kill someone to be a sociopath. It's like death by a thousand cuts. I know how this sonic assault affects others and myself. My daughter has such a severe reaction to these thunderous booming cat stereos that it adversely affects her life. I hate them too. How can you not? And I hate most of all what they are doing to society all over the United States. Even in the smallest towns. There is no where to go to escape them, or the warped people who choose to have these "stereos" installed in their cars. These people have changed the very landscape of America. They have changed a way of life even, because we aren't free anymore. WE are essentially prisoners of sociopaths who have multiplied out of control. The inmates truly are running the asylum, with the blessings of the government and the police for the most part. That is what really disturbs and confuses me. I know corporations are selling these torture devices and making a fortune from it. I know lobbyists for these "stereo" companies make donations to politicians so tougher laws won't be enforced. I know all about this. I just cannot believe it. And as bad as it is now, I'm afraid it will only get worse. There are no more days and nights now, where you can sit outside or even in your own home and not hear from blocks away, the thunderous booming of these machines at all hours of the day. It is like a not so genteel war zone all across this country. And the monstrous people who inflict this noise are proud and gleeful they have ruined a way of life, and I mourn it's loss. As do millions of others. I remeber how it was "B.C" before booming car stereos. I truly mourn the loss of the way life used to be. I mourn the loss of empathy and common sense. I don't know what "we" will do about this terrible problem, but something has to be done. Common sense and the rights of others to live in peace has to prevail.Flag

Name: Sally Fowler on Nov 5, 2011State: OregonCountry: United StatesComments: Please note. I didn't mean to sign this petition twice. The first time my computer froze up but it still went through. I recently moved from Nevada and corrected what state I am now from. I know many "boomers" as they are called would see the different states and wrongly assume I am trying to pull something or pad the number of signatures. I notice some of them sign multiple times with insults towards others who are rightfully upset by these "stereos". Just another example of their staggering ignorance.Flag

Name: Nathaniel on Dec 19, 2011State: HawaiiCountry: United StatesComments: Having come back from a deployment to Iraq and being denied post deployment leave, I'm already pretty high strung just from attending work. Then, I get new neighbors in nearby apartments who play their music in both their cars and their apartments excessively loud. I called the police twice and consistently talked with building management at customer service, and I'm still having noise problems over a month later. I get on average 2-3 hours of sleep whenever my neighbors feel like having a good time till 4:00 A.M. The first thing that ran through my mind is "I deployed and came home just for this?" I don't think so. I have zero tolerance now.Flag

Name: Veronica Cook on Dec 25, 2011State: PennsylvaniaCountry: United StatesComments: I live in Pittsburgh and there should be a ban against loud blasting car stereo. It makes no sense why someone must play their music so loud that five blocks away you can hear it! Unfortunately I live next door to people who apparently are death (not seriously) and blast their music. After complaining to the landlord and confronting them myself, they have quiet down some. The only problem I have now is the one idiot sitting in his car and playing his annoying music. I have no clue why he sits in his car and blast his music. Philadelphia has a ban against loud music via car, why doesn't Pittsburgh!!?? I feel like calling the cops, but I doubt they will do anything about this. PLEASE BAN ALL LOUD MUSIC FROM CAR STEREO IN ALL STATES!! No one cares that you think your cool and play music, nor do we care about your music!!!Flag

No one gives a rip about their "statement" because it's not anything worthwhile and is most unwise way to express it anyway! Just makes me want to ring their neck or to shoot out their tires and I hope some people will to these stupid morons!!!!! Yeah, like we think their "music" is cool? NOT!!!!! And these people seem to have no clue they make themselves into losers; contributing in their own lives going down the toilet and wanting to take others with them! Really sad and STUPID! Name: Ron Campbell on Feb 18, 2012State: OhioCountry: United StatesComments: I reside in Brown county, Ohio where there is no noise ordinance. The state of Ohio has disorderly conduct laws forbidding 'unnecessary noise' that 'annoys' the neighbors, but the prosecutor's office and Sheriff's office will not enforce this law, no matter how many neighbors complain. YOU ARE CORRECT that this is a federal issue, but it is a federal issue for the Envirnmental Protection Agency, who is charged with protecting citizens in the U.S. from noise pollution, yet strangely will not touch this issue. (I have called) We are talking simply about NOISE, as may be defined as any unnecessary sound that is loud enough to travel OUTSIDE the realm of the perpitrator's home or car, and cause an ill effect on their neighbor. IT IS THAT SIMPLE! It does not matter if you are talking BOOM BOOM from the sub-woofers or gasoline engine exhaust noise from a gas driven vehicle. IT DOES NOT MATTER WHAT THE ORIGIN OF THE NOISE IS! If the noise is so loud that it affects your neighbor's life, and it is not necessary as common sense will dictate, IT IS CLEARLY A VIOLATION OF ANY STATE DISORDERLY CONDUCT OR NOISE ORDINANCE LAW, and should be stopped! I have next-door neighbors in brown county, Ohio that when they are not vrooming a vehicle exhaust over and over, that is loud enough to near vibrate the pictures on the walls, another is pulling in with the BOOM BOOM music. Being x-law enforcement, I know there are laws to protect us from this assualt of noise that invades our homes, but, unfortunately YOU CANNOT DEPEND ON LOCAL AUTHORITIES to protect you from this kind of assault; therefore, federal law protection is sorely needed across our country. I hope this petition is serious, because I deal with this audible assault every day, and it takes a tole on my mental and physical health when you live next door to it. Ron CampbellFlag
