It is really sad that with everything else going on that these jerks feel the need to be a nuisance to everyone else. We need to make our voices heard above this dispicable noise and finnally put an end to it. It has really become sad how the youth of today is so inconsiderate and disrespectful. I really feel a lot of it has to do with some of this rap (so called music) that promotes so much violence and disrepect. It's time decent citizens regain their RIGHT to PRIVACYFlag

Name: Karen Underwood on Apr 5, 2003State: TXCountry: USComments: My family and I just moved from a lovely home in which we were sonically raped every day. We were deprived of sleep, peaceful dinner conversations and the ability to listen to and enjoy our own enterrtaintment. My children and I were barely able to function and do homework in the afternoon. We begged and pleaded for mercy from our neighbors and the police and nobody lifted a finger to help us. We are moved into a new neighborhood which is better but we are still intruded upon by cars passing by at all hours one street away from ours. IN GOD'S SWEET NAME,WHAT CAN WE DO ABOUT THIS I will do whatever I can so please send me info on how to help.Flag

This is a clear threat to the safety and security of individuals and the nation as a whole. The Congressional Caucus of Automotive, Performance and Motorsports, Congress on behalf of the Noise Making Boom Car and Loud exhaust industry, thereby putting Americans in harms way. Destroying neighborhoods, harming children's development and learning, Damaging hearing, raising blood pressure, increasing the chance of cardiovascular disease, vibroacoustic disease, and causing both physiological and psycological trauma. There needs to be a congressional investigation of the entire motorsport industry.Flag

Name: Kathy Churchill on Apr 12, 2003State: CACountry: USComments: I am a mother of 3 boys, 2 of which have vehicles. As a parent I have always empressed upon them that low loud tones causes hearing loss. They won't be able to hear music or voices by the time they are in there 30's, or hear their babies cry. I have taught my boys to respect others in hope of getting to hear their own music in their own trucks. Parents, take your responsiblities back regarding you kids and their friends. If you don't allow it around you they won't do it. If you sit back and let it happen, it will. ARE YOU AFRAID of your own kids... Some of you parents are the ones the ones training the youth to be jerks. Listening to the sound of the bass booming in my house and in my car while sitting at a signal, it makes me want to honk my horn right along with it the thumping. They imposed a level year ago, and stopped bothering to enforce it... Why it's a bother that makes conciderate people want to hurt someone....Flag

Since this topic is on cars, why don't you create a "ipetition" about how cars over 50 horsepower should not be marketed What's the definition for "excessive" Perhaps we can say this very website is excessive in that there is a $10,000 dollar server behind what your are typing into. Is that excessive Are there NOT people starving on the streets even in our own country There will ALWAYS be an arguement to ANYTHING that is equally as valid as yours (murder, suicide, corruption). Besides, no one will EVER see these comments EVER. Sure people say it takes one person to start a revolution, but people in power have MUCH better things to do. So then you ask, why are there speeding tickets To raise money for the city. That's the ONLY reason why they have such laws in place. There have been studies that proves this, look this up if you have no life. Even if this law is passed, no one will be worried. It's like speeding down a country road in a city with a population of 1. Sorry this is just too funny, and these comments are funnier than any movie.Flag

(Just read a certain comment, I don't mind contributing two signatures to your futile quest to silence the air. Who owns air Will it get so bad that one entity will argue this volume of air is mine That I can do anything I want with it In response of your "war troubles," go ahead and sue me if my boom makes you rage with convulsions. Turn me over for abusing the ipetitions.com server Am I not just expressing my views as you are yours Seriously... should you not be trying to cut down on the street racing If bass is louder than your city's PD, you should be wasting your time trying to raise money for better police cars. It all boils down to money. if the US economy is making money from it, it will not be silenced. One of the MAJOR reasons that marijuana is not legal is because the US cannot tax or trace the origins of it. Note: I am not a flaming teenager, however I know what it was like. From an adult point of view, to me it does get a bit "excessive" sometimes. You must realize the facts of this world and even your efforts to broaden your range of viewers of this petition, nothing will become of this. You could treat me as your small voice of reason telling you that, I'm truly sorry but your efforts are for naught.Flag

Name: Matt Levonian on Apr 17, 2003State: CACountry: USComments: I stumbled onto this site by accident. What a fortuitous accident it was. I felt like I was all alone out here, esp. in the Los Angeles area. The low frequency emissions from cars as well as "home theatre" systems and the like has gotten so out of control it is frightening. As I have seen said by so many of your contributors, there is NO escape. I was in the hospital some time ago, and the sound of those boom cars from the parking lot made having to stay in the room almost maddening. People are so used to it, the hospital security didn't even give it a second thought. Whatever I can do to put an end to this situation, I will do. Keep up the good work.Flag

Name: Lina Vawter on Apr 22, 2003State: MACountry: USComments: I have been sleep-deprived for about a year and a half due to boom-cars and Harleys, along with loud mufflers. It is clear that with the population growing exponentially and the vast majority of people working for a living and needing to sleep both during the night AND during the day (hospital night shift workers) the rights of citizens MUST be protected immediately. One cannot go for long periods of time without sleep. The cumulative effect of 50 to 100 idiots per night driving by is simply the total loss of a nights sleep. I've installed central air, I've got double-pained windows, and sleep with a fan to make a "white noise." Nothing blocks out these idiots. I've gone to a public park seeking quiet and--you guessed it--found some moron with a boom-car parked in the middle. Please Help! I can't afford to move to a rich area!Flag

Name: Dennis Freeland on Apr 29, 2003State: OHCountry: USComments: I, as the owner of a 'boomcar' would like to say that there should be some noise ordinances, because I know it is very annoying to have people with loud stereos driving by at all hours of the night. I believe that, while loud stereos should be permissable in cars, there should be a time restraint on the noise ordinance, say, people can only blare music from 10AM-6PM. I listen to a lot of classical and rock music, and while I do have a 'boomcar', I am courteous enough to keep it down in residential neighborhoods and late/early in the day. I signed this petition to say that Michael Wright has went about this in all the wrong ways. He has created a website which is overly militaristic and highly exaggerative. He lyrically threatens violence against all people with "Boomcars" and that makes him and his generalizations no better than the people he wishes to persecute.Flag
