West Didsbury and Chorlton AFC are applying for permission to erect SIX 50ft high floodlights on their existing pitch in Chorlton overlooking Hardy Farm in the Mersey Valley.

Last year we successfully campaigned to stop the development of a large football complex on Greenbelt land at Hardy Farm in Chorlton. The application was made by West Didsbury and Chorlton AFC (WDCAFC). We are now campaigning against the proposed installation of floodlights on WDCAFC's existing pitch. Their pitch is located directly adjacent to the site of their previous application at Hardy Farm. The lights are too close to housing and, whilst its nice to have local successful sport,  the progression of the football team through the leagues will bring an increase in spectators, noise pollution, parking problems, and with the proposed floodlights, light pollution.

Despite the application for limited usage, once the use of floodlights has been established in the area, it will become increasingly difficult for the Council Planning Department to refuse permission for further floodlights on the beautiful green space we fought so hard to save last year.
