| 51 | Sue Clamp | I am in total agreement with a HALT being called to current proposals. WE DO NOT NEED TO POLLUTE OUR LOCAL ENVIRONMENT FURTHER BY INCREASING TRAFFIC ON THIS ROAD. |

Petition against 'Postcard to Wales' Please support? |
| 56 | Anonymous | I would like answers regarding the health implications for people and children living in Queen St and Queensferry as a whole, i know we already live and put up with the existing road but i have yet to be given concrete evidence of how this 'improvement' is going to make our lives better. We already have noise, congestion through the main street, HGVs driving down out street and damaging cars. If the go ahead is given i cannot imagine just how bad the traffic is going to be. Anyone remember what the Ferry is like when the blue bridge is closed?? This is just going to be an absolute nightmare.
The Flintshire Bridge is most definately under utilised, i travel each morning to the welsh school in Flint and going through Shotton can take 45 minutes plus, up Aston Hill and onto flint 25/30 minutes all of which mean i encounter traffic. Going through Dee. Ind. Est. i have a clear run every morning and afternoon and although the travel time is only marginally quicker at 20 minutes it feels much faster.
The only option i have been notified about is a possible offer of secondary glazing! Great.. NOT!!!!! How does this go anywhere near to answering our questions on noise pollution!!! Not only is this extremely ugly, the vast majority of people have already got double glazing so this would encroach into the room, an air vent system would have to be installed, special blinds used etc etc. I for one have not spent good money having wood blinds fitted for them to be of no use with this system. How they think this would help appease people i don't know.
We look out over the road and i believe our 'view' if the plans go ahead would be of 11 lanes of traffic!
I have definately been given the impression that as we only live in Queensferry and we already have the road that we aren't allowed to be unhappy about it as surely it won't make much difference. WE have to actually live with the fumes as is, never mind in the future. |
| 57 | Anonymous | I believe the Flintshire Bridge route to be more appropriate. |
| 58 | Anonymous | NO!!!! absolutely crazy |
| 59 | dave chesney | an expensive idea which will quickly fill up with new journies |
| 60 | Anonymous | why isn't there a sign for the A55 on the M56 for the Chester/Wrexham turn off then the traffic that want the A55 dont have to come onto the A494 at all, they just stay on the motorway.... |
| 61 | Judith Hough | South Wales want to have everything,so let them have this proposed motorway. Why should we have this monster put through a lovely residential area ? |
| 62 | David Hough | This area already highest rate of pollution in all Wales - why should we have more ? We want Health Impact Assessment. St Mellon's Link Rd, South Wales had one + that didn't go through residential area such as this |
| 63 | matthew fitzpatrick | This road is a total waste of ime and money. Somebody is getting rich of this idea and I feel that there needs to be an investigation and somebody should be held accountable. The whole scheme tantermounts to fraud. It is not needed. |

| 65 | Anonymous | We do not want the A494 and A55 road widened. I have seen first hand the negative impact that the initial widening of the A55 in the 80's has had on the communities of the coastal towns and villages that it cuts through. If the start of this road is widened on the entry into Wales it will only move any existing jams further along the road, creating the excuse to keep widening the road along its entire length. North Wales does not need a motorway. One hoped that the devolvement of centralised governmental power would have resulted in a Welsh government of Wales for Wales, and that our future was in safe hands. However it seems that the people in power have the same limited vision and policies in regard to transport, environment and people as their centralised predecessors. Please wake up, listen and hear the people of Wales, a localised governments priority should be to serve the needs of the local communities. |
| 66 | Anonymous | Have intermodal links that accomodate road rail vehicles between connahs quay and holyhead been considered by the WAG? terminals at either end, plus electrification of the N Wales line would reap signiificant benefits. The private sector should be approached and involved to assess the viability before we invest over £300 million on a white elephant. |

| 68 | Anonymous | I actually live in Queensferry facing the dual carriageway, and let me tell you that if the planners lived here they would NOT be so keen. They would certainly not want THEIR families to put up with the noise from the lorries hurtling up Aston Hill at 4.30 am every morning, not to mention the health implications for us, our children and grandchildren from the fumes. I still need to have some hard evidence that the road is of a benefit to us. I think NOT. Why not use the Flintshire Bridge it makes much more sense! |
| 69 | Gary Tinsey | As Chairman of The Railfuture Freight Committee I support this petition. In addition I support major rail freight improvements recorded. Please contact our lobby group on my e-mail contact for further rail freight information. Regards Gary Tinsey. |
| 70 | mr h hodgkinson | The proposal for the Aston Hill project and the secondary proposals are totally mad. There should be a big sign on the M56 saying NORTH WALES, pointing towards the A55 and in Ewloe for traffic on the return.
The A494 should only be local and business traffic.
To even consider ripping even more precious country side, farm land and wild life habitat is totally selfish, the DAMAGE will be irreversible. Due to the the current state of the world and weather that we all have to live in, do you really think that making new roads in the Aston Hill and highly productive farm land is going
to be that beneficial, just so sales reps and bank holiday traffic can cut 10 min off their trip. most of the congestion is at Halkyn on busy times? |
| 71 | Philip Edwarads | I am in total agreement with everyone opposing the widening of the A494 "Aston Hill" road. It is totally unnecessary and would only cause further severe congestion when all traffic merged at the top of the hill where the road meets the A55 coming from Chester.
What we need on Deeside is some sensible - and sensitive - road planning. I believe that with some well thought out and inexpensive road alterations (involving mainly re-marking of road junctions, and directional flows of traffic) much of the traffic congestion could be alleviated. (I have sent some suggestions to the road planners at Flintshire County Council).
Finally, if Flintshire County Council is going to spend millions on road improvements, then let's have a new road (a proper by-pass) either linking the new Dee bridge direct with the A55, or building a new road to run alongside the river Dee, passing Flint Castle (what an introduction to North Wales this would be). Either of these moves would eradicate the need to even think about widening the A494.
Flintshire County Council's road planners - and the politicians in the Welsh Assembly should think things through a bit more, and use their imagination!!

| 79 | Claire Tindall | This widening idea is mad. Why "solve" a problem by compounding it. You do not lose weight by eating more, and buying bigger clothes. Be more radical - ban lorries and other vehicles over a certain weight except those needing business access - this can be managed by two weigh stations and an electronic pass system set up with some of the money proposed to be blown on this current project. Make all those vehicles that do not qualify go around "the long way". |

| 81 | Judith Hough | leave our area alone. we need our flora + fauna for life's balance. extend the A55. use the infrastructure of the railways. why can't governments get it right ? listen to the "RESIDENTS". the people who live in area's to be bulldozed for a toxic churning mototway |
| 82 | Frank D Thompson | |
| 83 | Judith Hough | Less roads-More hospitals + schools |
| 84 | P Davies | The over dependence on the river crossing at Queensferry is a totally flawed plan. The Wales Assembly Government are burying their heads in the sand to the potential of the Flintshire Bridge to relieve the area of decades of traffic problems. Nearly 5,000 properties will be affected by these proposals compared to only a maximum of 74 if the alternative route was exploited. Whose interests and welfare have the Assembly Government got in mind? it's certainly not the residents of Queensferry, Aston, Ewloe, Ewloe Green or Northop Hall. |

| 87 | Dominic McCann | I live in Manchester and visit North Wales 2 or 3 times a year. Sometimes I travel by train (eg to Llandudno). The route from Manchester to Hollyhead could be greatly improved and could for example be electrified allowing fast Pendolino trains to serve the route from London to Hollyhead. Connecting rail services should also be improved as well as local bus services. |
