Name: Andrew M. on Jan 12, 2013Comments: This is a TEERRIBLE IDEA!! A college education is necessary to obtain a career or job to provide for yourself and your family. Obtaining a college education is expensive enough as it is. Privatizing parking on IUPUI and IU Bloomington is not the answer to increase profits please carefully consider the negative aspects too!! The increase in cost of parking to the students, it may be too much that some cannot afford and have to drop out, or transfer to an entirely different institution that they can afford. Think of all the employees who provide for families all those children whose parents would lose a job in this economy where jobs are hard to come by. Please, please, please do not mess with parking leave it be the way it currently is.Flag

Name: David E. Pruett on Mar 1, 2013Comments: The essence of privatization is that somebody is going to be able to come in and do something more efficiently than you could, and provide equal or better service to your customers. Sometimes this is true, often it is not. Indiana University has one of the most respected business schools in the country. We have trustees and instructors with years of experience in the corporate world. With all this expertise at our disposal, surely we are capable of managing parking lots. If current parking operations are being run in a way that is grossly inefficient, then surely we can identify and correct any problems. And if current parking operations are not grossly inefficient, then this type of privatization is likely to create modest financial gains in exchange for lesser service to our customers, and significant damage to our local economy in the form of lower paying, less stable jobs.Flag
