| 353 | Herb Kline | Andrew H. Card, Jr., as former White House Chief of Staff from 2000 to 2006, is part of that same Bush-Cheney administration that brought this country to war in Iraq based solely on lies. As such, it is outrageous that the University of Massachusetts should see fit to honor such a war based on such lies. Andrew H. Card, Jr., therefore, is certainly not a person of "'high ethical standards", and the University of Massachusetts would shame itself by pretending otherwise. |
| 354 | Anaiis Salles | It is outrageous to think that Andrew Card would receive an "honorary" anything after the role he has played in deceiving our nation and costing the lives of 3,000 of our troops, many of whom never had the option to attend college. If UMass wants to extend honorary degrees, it should do so posthumously to those young college age soldiers who died fighting for rights they never had in their home country. |
| 355 | James H. Mearns | |
| 356 | Heather McLaughlin | If Andrew Card get his award, what statement does that make about UMass? That it is afraid of standing up to Bush or is it afraid of losing all of its graduate funding for plastics? |

| 361 | Josh Karpoff | Andrew Card doesn't deserve an honory degree, he didn't earn it through hard work or do anything honorable.

| 364 | Sami Keats | When are we going to stop promoting and honoring the people who brought us to this lowest point in our country's history? Condoleezza Rice failed as Security adviser so she was promoted to Secretary of State. Paul Wolfowitz was promoted from architect of the Iraq war to head of the world bank and now he is resigning in disgrace. It is an insult to our intelligence as citizens of America to keep telling us how great these people are. We know the truth. Just stop it! Do not honor Andy Card for helping to market this failed and bloody war in Iraq. |
| 365 | Daniel Pozmanter | We cannot honor Andrew Card, the Administration, or their actions and remain a community dedicated to the goals and ethics of higher learning. We owe it to every morally upright member of the UMass community to oppose an honorary degree for Andrew Card.
The University Administration and the Board of Trustees are permanently damaging the University's standing. |

| 368 | Jerome Schoenfeld | A ridiculous choice to receive such a honorable degree and an outrage to the intellectual community. |

| 376 | Paul Kaplan | It is a terrible idea to award Mr. Card an honorary degree. |
| 377 | Barbara Tiner | There is no honor in what Andrew Card was a part of. Awarding the degress would be a black mark on the University. |

| 380 | Monique Fordham, Esq. | (M.A., class of 1997) This is unbelievable! "Great accomplishment" and "high ethical standards" for Andrew Card? Let's have the UMASS administration provide us with the list of the people who lost out to Andy Card for this honorary degree. Something tells me a much more accomplished and ethical person may have been passed over. Otherwise, if Card truly "exemplifies the ideals" of UMASS, the school is in big, big trouble. |
| 381 | Stephen Goodale | Mr. Card's complicity with an Administration dedicated to dismantling the Constitution and Bill of Rights of the United States would seem to dictate against his qualifying for this degree, but then again, I understand just how far universities will prostitute themselves for the government contracts they have come to rely on. |
| 382 | Steven M. O'Halloran | I am shocked that the University of Massachusetts would even consider the prospect of offering and honorary degree to Mr. Card. Through his conduct in the Bush administration it seems clear to me that he does not hold high ethical standards, regardless of his politics. His conduct in the affair with Mr. Ashcroft in the hospital is indicative of his respect for the dignity of others and of government protocal.
Then, of course, there is his role in the Iraq war which has, and will continue to bring anguish and difficulties on the Iraqi and American people.
As a graduate of the Master of History Program at the University I consider it an insult for this offer to Mr. Card.
Sincerely, Steven M. O'Halloran |
| 383 | Glen Ayers | War criminals should be in prison, not getting honorary degrees. Shame on UMass. This shows how low UMass will go to prostitute itself for corporate money. Have you no decency? |
| 384 | Kathleen | In support of Kate Maich and her fellow graduates. |
| 385 | Tiffany Flowers | |
| 386 | Roger Conant | Proposing to honor this warmonger and person of low ethical standards greatly cheapens the meaning of an "Honorary" degree. There is no honor in this degree. |

| 392 | Emily Lewis | This honorary degree to Card is a disgrace to the University, and to the Commonwealth. |

| 394 | Kevin Funk | |
| 395 | Kate Harris | As an alumni of UMass Amherst, I am outraged by this proposed blemish on my alma mater's reputation. Please revoke this offer immediately. |
| 396 | Lisa Ranghelli | Andrew Card does not embody high ethical standards, quite the contrary. His involvement in helping the Bush Administration deceive the American people about the war in Iragq, among other flawed policies, is reprehensible and should not be rewarded in any way. |

| 398 | John Pepi | The awarding of this degree is a disgrace to the University and to the citizens of Massachusetts - who know liars and cheats when they see one. |
| 399 | neil fahey | It is unthinkable that UMASS is even cosidering this person for an honor after his involvement with the Iraq war & his nefarious attempt to get an impaired John Ashcroft to sign off on an illegal wiretapping letter. Just what the hell is that saying to honest, hard working people? The fix is in-that's what. Infuriated, Neil Fahey, RN, LNC. |
| 400 | Christine Rowinski | Andrew H. Card made a choice. He used is intellect and talents to willingly sell death and distruction. As a former graduate of UMASS, I firmly dennounce the University's decision to honor this individual. As a life-long resident of this state I say: NOT IN MY NAME. |
