To: Mike Duke, Walmart CEO Jim Schmitt, Mayor of Green Bay Greg Larsen, President of OBI We, the undersigned, are opposed to the construction of a Wal-Mart Supercenter, or any big box store, on the Larsen Green property in Green Bay's Broadway District. We believe in strengthening local, established businesses and encouraging the development of new small businesses in downtown Green Bay. A Wal-Mart Supercenter would be detrimental to local business viability not just in the Broadway District, but across the city. A Wal-Mart would not only cause irreparable economic damage to our community, but would irretrievably damage the historical character and integrity of the Broadway District and hinder economic development along the Fox River. Further, we are opposed to bearing the additional costs to public services, such as policing and road maintenance; as well as the decline of local tax revenue that has been documented in other communities. Our purpose is to be heard and to voice serious concerns over a proposed development that does not meet the vision, values or goals of the Historic Broadway District or the needs of Green Bay.
