The reason for this petition is to abolish the police from having your car towed.True example.A woman with 4 kids ,twins 3 and 5,7. was pulled over for no insurance and had her car towed .Unable to have anybody to pick her and her kids up.They had to walk 3 miles home and had to cross a busy traffic. The cop could've just given her a ticket and let her drove straight home .Furthermore she had to pay fines up to $300.00 and another $260.00 in towing and storage fees. Not only this was cold hearted but also immoral. Why should you be held obligated to towing fees you didn't ask for? And do you really have or want to give the tow company money you don't really have to give? It's also a inconvence to get someone to take you where you need to go. What if you don't have the money to get your car out that day? Well it add up in storage fees and if you can't get it out in 30 days they can auction your car off. That's what i call "Legalized entrapment" I can see If the car is in a accident and it's a obstruction to traffic .But if the vehicle is in no way in obstruction to traffic it don't need to be tow unless it's authorized by the driver or unless the police or sheriff dept gonna pay for it.To give a ticket cause you violate a traffic law is one thing.But to have your car towed too is excessive.And cause of this NEW Extortion law not only it benefit the PD to cumulate revenue but they also get a VERY nice donation from insurance company also.So please help get this petition known and have this unfair act abolish.
