We believe that Labrador's air, water and ecosystems need to remain free of uranium mining by-products, which threaten to poison the basic elements of life for the people of Labrador. We are calling for a permanent ban on uranium mineral prospecting, exploration, and mining in Labrador and we want our local political representatives to fulfill their responsibility of ensuring a healthy Nunatsiavut and Labrador by taking action on this extremely important issue.

Uranium mining is unquestionably destructive and unsustainable. There is no safe way to dispose of uranium tailings which remain dangerous for thousands of years. Uranium mining should not be permitted.

Therefore, we, the undersigned, call on residents of Labrador to:

PETITION the Nunatsiavut Government to initiate an immediate and permanent ban on uranium mineral prospecting, exploration and mining in Nunatsiavut.

Are you kidding me? Mining uranium in Labrador is just asking for a disaster. Think about the future of our kids.

The water here is too precious to mess with. Once it’s poisoned we can’t get it back. Stop this now.
