We are opposed to the City of Thorp rezoning the property south of Highway 29 from light industrial to heavy commercial which can include agriculture. The Hollands Family Cheese is requesting that the city rezone this property of 100 acres so that they can run a 300-herd dairy within 1 mile of the City of Thorp. Within this mile there are schools, over 800 homes, parks, and many businesses. The waste generated by a large herd of cattle within such a close area with create order, air pollutition, contaminate our water, and depreciate the value of our homes and community. It will also negatively affect the existing small family farms in their ability to purchase land for grazing, crops and water access. We support small family farms we are not in favor of large animal herds within our city. Please support our efforts to keep the city of Thorp a viable community for our children to grow up in.
