They reversed the order. We officially stopped the hike and kept it at the old rate. Thank you for proving that our collective pressure works.

The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation or Philhealth Board recently issued Circular No.022 imposing a 150% hike in health premiums of OFWs from the current P900 to become P2,400.

The hike in OFWs health insurance premium will not only bleed us (OFWs and dependents) dry, it also sucks out our blood leading ‘to death due to deprivation of free and affordable social services’. The government through various agencies is killing us so softly by imposing additional fees in pretense of better social services.

By all legal and extra-legal means allowed by law, We, OFWs and dependents, must support the campaign against Philhealth premium hike, and expose and oppose this ‘unhealthy money-making scheme’ by the Philhealth.

We kick off this signature drive, on paper and on-line, to gather the support of as many OFWs and their families.

We are targeting 1-M signature by July 2012, the supposed start of imposing Philhealth premium of P2,400 from the current P900. With our position paper, we will send the signatures to Pres. Aquino and to the Philhealth Board members, members of the Senate and House of Representatives.

We appeal to all our fellow OFWs, their dependents, friends and OFW advocates to join us in our campaign by signing this petition and help pass it on to others and urge them to do the same.

The stories shared in the comments prove this hike is completely unacceptable for our families. We are currently drafting formal letters to the Board members to ensure they cannot ignore our demands.

Senator Imee Marcos said in a statement.

I am against this new policy of Philhealth as I feel that it is not fair to us to pay the said amount. I couldn't even save for myself why should I pay for something thag I didn't use or will be using.

I do not agree into this. When it comes to pandemic benefits OFW FAMILY MEMBERS are ALWAYS EXCLUDED! and yet we are being oblige to pay for the philhealth which we do not have any benefit from it.

Please support us as we had to go thru a lot of sacrifices in order to put food on the table for our family. Thank you.

Sobrang laki naman ng 2400! Hirap na nga kami dito sa abroad tas ganito pa. Imbes na pambayad sa bahay at pagkain ng pamilya mapupunta lang sa wala.
