Name: Donna Black on Feb 14, 2013Comments: Neighbors, I am opposed to adding a pavilion at Beach 5. This subject came up last year and many people expressed their unhappiness at the thought of 1) erecting a large structure on the last of Lake Barcroft's open spaces, 2) giving our increasingly, daring vandals yet another structure to deface, therefore, 3) giving our tired volunteers more repair and maintenance projects to address, and 4) ruining the view for our neighbors who live close to Beach 5. Since this subject is being brought up at the February 20th LBA annual meeting I am signing this petition requesting that the Board not to pursue this any further.Flag

Name: Anonymous on Feb 14, 2013Comments: offer alternatives such as renting a large tent. LBA could instead of spending money on researching the issue, buy a big tent that LB residents could rent for a subsidized price.Flag

Name: Margaret ( Bunni) Latkin on Feb 14, 2013Comments: Since no one has come forward to advocate for this, may I ask, #1--who wants it; and #2--if no one is proposing it, why are we wasting time on it?Flag

Name: Cynthia Wolloch And Joseph Reid on Feb 14, 2013Comments: Preserve green space, limit erosion and pollution, minimize noise, beach restrictions and the potential for vandalism, save money, respect the community. This idea was floated nine months ago with no details nor followup. All prospective Board members should state their positions in advance of the vote.Flag

Name: Anne Simon on Feb 18, 2013Comments: Last year we had an informal discussion about this idea at a Newcomers Club board meeting. There were a lot of good reasons for and a lot of good reasons against. For me, 'against' won out despite initially thinking it might be a good idea. One thing that convinced me was that it's probably not just a pavillion/shelter, no doubt many would want it to have electricity and it would require trash service. Both are problematic. What about wedding rentals, parking, the list goes on. What happens when there is a generational lull in the community, like when the Swimming Club closed due to lack of children and members in the 80s? I think it woud be too expensive, not to mention an insurance risk and general headache.Flag

Name: Sue Presti on Feb 18, 2013Comments: We live directly across from Beach 5 and would be severely affected by a Pavilion. We strongly opposed the last attempt at this (when there was an effort to build a community center at Beach 5 about 9 years ago), and we will throw our support behind any effort to defeat this current attempt.Flag
