A PETITION AGAINST

HALTON REGION SEXUAL HEALTH CLINIC DISTRIBUTING NEEDLES & CRACK KITS OUT OF STORE FRONT LOCATION

(3350 Fairview Street, Burlington, ON)

We, the undersigned, oppose the distribution of free needles/syringes, crack kits and steroid injection equipment as a component of the overall service offering available to the public from this store front clinic effective November 2012.

We OBJECT to:

1. Provisioning of this service within a 2 block radius of 4 elementary schools, 1 high school, a nursery school, an early childhood reachout centre and less than 20 feet from residential homes.

2. Provisioning of this service in a high traffic, family oriented retail mall between a family restaurant, a children's video game store and busy convenience store.

3. Halton Region and the City of Burlington NOT providing full disclosure and an in-depth public consultation and investigative process with residents and businesses in Ward 4 prior to relocating the clinic to the new location.

By signing  this petition I demand the Head of Halton Regional Health Department permanently eliminate the distribution of needles/syringes, crack kits and steroid injection equipment from the Sexual Health Clinic relocating to 3350 Fairview Street, Burlington, Ontario and insist this component of the service offering be restricted to the mobile van currently distributing the drug injection equipment and drug paraphenelia in Halton Region.
