Name: Lelia Morgan on Mar 22, 2013Comments: Common Core is a lose/lose situation for education in Missouri. Currently in the Francis Howell Elementary School in St. Charles, only 8 minutes per day is alloted to teach math. Children are sent home with a 3 to 4 hour load of homework, at least an hour of math in that, so parents have become the teachers. We do not NEED more standards foisted on us by the government, we already have too many government guidelines!Flag

Name: Laura on Mar 23, 2013Comments: This is such an important effort! Common core takes away local control and puts our kids at danger of being educated to believe in the state as the giver of all good. And in MO common core, they are teaching the "living constitution" and a "constitutional democracy" instead of a constitutional REPUBLIC! Due to the consortium of 11 states joined together in their common core instruction, we have children in 11 states being taught incorrectly, and WE PAY--in MANY WAYS!!!Flag

Name: Frederick Berry on Mar 24, 2013Comments: We don't need more Federal intervention in public education. I would remove the state from ALL federal funding to education. This was a huge issue in the debates between Nixon and Kennedy, Republicans and Democrats, in 1960 when there was virtually no federal funding of education. Obviously Republicans lost the election, and the debate, and then many joined forces with the left, eventually giving us "no child left behind," which in my opinion is a de facto affirmation of "It Takes a Village (Idiot)." Lets quit taking federal money for education. Experience shows it only serves to limit our freedom, and it dumbs down the curricula for both teachers in the colleges and universities and students, K-12.Flag

Name: Stacy Shore on Mar 25, 2013Comments: As the mother of three children in school, it has been apalling to me in the past few years to watch their education on a fast track to failure. Our teachers cry all the time, and are exhausted. They do not have time to get to know children any longer as they are drones who simply collect data. My children are not data. Teachers can reach children if we allow for them to and stop tying their hands with the ridiculous over reach of the government in education. It does not take a rocket scientist to see what is going on. We must give our schools back to the communities in which they exist. We must untie the hands of teachers that students may start to learn again. Stop the madness. Stop the experiments in education on my children. Stop the educational malpractice that is happening every single day as a result of too much government in our schools. No Child Left Behind was a disaster. Why would anyone expect Common Core to be any better? Did we not learn our lesson with NCLB? Save the children and keep education local.Flag
