Name: Jeremy Haines on Mar 29, 2013Comments: The Gas Tax bill should be stopped. It is unaccepted that a tax on gas is even being proposed. The state of Maryland makes millions of dollars on tolls that are meant for transportation funding, that is currently being misused, and there is no transparency to the people of how that money is spent. This will just be another means of money that will be misused by our state. This tax could be the breaking point for families that are already stretched to thin. It is my responsibility to balance my families monthly budget to ensure I live within my means. I cannot make my employer increase my pay because I need the money, and neither should the state of Maryland. Instead of increasing taxes, Maryland should take a hard look at the way they currently spend the money they have. At one point the people will not stand for this abuse of power. I can honestly say that I will not be affected because I live close enough to Delaware to get my gas from there. If this tax gets approved I will no longer shop in Maryland. Delaware already has tax free shopping, and soon to be a lot less tax free gas. And if more measures like this take place within the next couple of years, I will move my family from this state. Taking my tax money from it.Flag
