We oppose the construction of a Connector Road between the Main Library and the Community Garden as proposed by the City of Palo Alto. Such a road would ruin the calm, quiet, peaceful, pedestrian-only environment of the Community Garden, would bring air and noise pollution, and no data has been recorded showing traffic patterns that require such a Connector Road. It would also cost over $100,000 to build and would pave over part of the Community Garden.

It's not only gardeners who use the Community Garden. Many residents enjoy the park-like space between the Main Library and the Community Garden because it's a small quiet park. It won't be with a road passing through it.

Most importantly, the Connector Road will put our children in danger - because it would be used only occasionally, during events when the Art Center parking lot fills up. Children who frequently play in the space between the Main Library and Community Garden will be put at risk by motorists arriving late to an event and rushing to find a parking space.

Attend the Palo Alto City Council meeting on January 9, 2012 and tell the council not to approve constructing the Connector Road.

Protect our pedestrian-only spaces! Protect our children! No Connector Road!
