IF YOU BUILD IT THEY WILL COME: If the FAA provides funding for a tower there will be more aircraft, more noise, and a heightened lack of tranquility, which is what drew so many of us to move to the Hamptons in the first place. What is apparent to me is the gross lack of judgment as evidenced by those who represent our town. As a town we have the right and opportunity to enforce rules at the airport. We lose those rights if we take FAA funding. We CAN have the right to control what aircraft can fly into our airport, what time of day and night they can arrive and depart, thus cutting down on noise, and decide where the route of air traffic should be so the citizens of our community can live in peace and quiet. The Town Board MUST establish and implement landing, parking, and storage fees which will add to the surplus of funds necessary to maintain the airport. The town surplus CAN pay for the deer fencing. We do NOT want the FAA controlling our town and we do NOT want the airport to expand. The current Town Board of East Hampton has a moral and ethical obligation to do what is right for the whole of the community, NOT for just a few select. We say "NO" to FAA government control for our small town airport. We are addressing safety and quality of life issues that are to the benefit of our entire community. THE RESIDENTS AND TAX PAYERS OF EAST HAMPTON TOWN.
