We, the undersigned, petition the incoming Mayor and Council of the City of Niagara Falls (November 2014) to reject and refute the aspect of the proposed Arts and Culture plan that pertains to Licensed Buskers. This measure will optically devalue the compensation of Musicians and Entertainers who are presently employed at various venues in the City. This measure sublimely suggests that the true value of an artists performance is free, and that such performances should be supported solely by a free will offering. It sets a very dangerous precedent in the live entertainment industry and will act to suppress the value of professional live entertainment. Musicians and Entertainers should make an honest and fair guaranteed compensation for their performances.
