Name: Kathie Stallworth on Jan 17, 2013Comments: I do not think this ballfield has been given the careful consideration the city generally gives to new projects. Sounds like to me they are chasing money which I think in the long run is going to be harmful to our way of life on this side of the river. I would ask that city council give this a long hardlook with their personal feelings set aside and honestly decide whether this is going to be something that benefits North Augusta in the long run. Are we going to be like so many other cities in America that once the dazzle has won off we are left to support a dinosaur? I live on West Ave. and have enjoyed being here 1976. We took a chance when we bought here and do not want has become a wonderful street to live on become a thoroughfare for game and concert traffic, much less the noise that will be generated only a few blocks away.Flag

I say to you, I definitely get irked while people think about worries that they just don't know about. You managed to hit the nail upon the top and defined out the whole thing without having side-effects , people can take a signal. Will likely be back to get more. Name: Brian Dickert on Feb 5, 2013Comments: I agree with the resolution. The stadium is a bad Idea, and we should not be subjected to whatever idea a developer comes up with. I disagree with city council that said in the Jan 22 meeting that this is just an extention of the 1996 plan...this is actually a hard departure that abandons the soul and intent of community that has emerged over the past couple of decades. I have lived on West Ave since 1994 by choice. This stadium proposal is like the wrong-headedness and lack of leadership on the other side of the river.Flag

Name: Bob Powers on Feb 26, 2013Comments: It is my humble opinion that most of the plans WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE BASEBALL STADIUM appear to be well aligned with the wants and needs of North Augusta residents. I would welcome the Greenjackets in other, less intrusive areas...if this Stadium plan proceeds as is, we would only being inviting elements such as litter, traffic, unsightly advertising, crime, and the list could go on and on. All of these are basically the elements that our friends and families believed that we could llavoid in moving to North Augusta in the first place!!Flag

Name: Gayle Virgo on Feb 27, 2013Comments: I do not feel a baseball stadium is a benefit to our wonderful community. There will be major traffic problems, fireworks at all hours extremely close to our nicest residential neighborhood and problems with alcohol related incidents. I presently live across the river from the Augusta stadium and experience many of these problems why would I want these problems even closer to my home ?Flag

Name: Margaret Burnett on Feb 28, 2013Comments: I do not think this is a good location for the stadium because of the traffic, alcohol use, etc. I would not like a stadium in my neighborhood. There are more locations in North Augusta which would be a lot better like Hwy 1 where the Riverfront Mall is located.Flag

Name: Fred Ilardi on Mar 6, 2013Comments: I believe that there are better places in North Augusta to put a ballpark. The city already has an agreement with a developer that is signed to have restaurants, a hotel , more housing, etc. What positive financial impact will a stadium bring except to create a need for more police, garbage collection, fire equipment, etc that the city will have to provide.Flag

Name: Timothy Tim Monroe Bledsoe on Mar 7, 2013Comments: I am vehemently opposed to this "Project Jackson", because in order to gain enough financing, The County and School governments have to be involved!! County and school taxes are just that, county and school taxes AND NOT SOME KIND OF COLLATERAL !Flag

Name: Anonymous on Mar 7, 2013Comments: I really enjoy Brick Pond Park as it is and hate to see it frequented by people who have no respect whatsoever for nature. Let alone the environmental impact created by traffic and crowds. I live very close to the park and really don't want to be laying in bed asleep to be awakened by a fireworks display during a ball game. It's bad enough with the stadium located where it is. I also think it's a safety hazard with people crossing the 15th street bridge while trying to watch the ball game. From a financial stand point spending $43 million in a town of 21 thousand people doesn't make sense. That's over $2000 dollars for each man woman and child in North Augusta. TIF or not, the money is coming out of the community.Flag
