We believe that the province of Newfoundland and Labrador would be much better off if the provincial government eliminated the interest it charges borrowers. We feel that the province would benefit greatly if our young educated individuals were able to live in their home province and contribute to their own economy rather than having to move away to areas where the pay is greater in order to break out of debt. We feel that by eliminating the interest on these loans, it would be a vital first step in slowing down out-migration, and it would be a great boost to the local economy if our young educated individuals came home (or didn\'t have to leave) and made and spent their money here rather than in places like Alberta or Ontario. We strongly believe that the province would be better off inticing young people to stay by eliminating student debt, and in particular the interest, than it would by simply collecting the interest made off of the backs of our educated people.
