the Muslim canadian congress has proposed a niqab ban stating that the veil is "not a religious requirement". however what the lobby group fails to recognise is that women who do don the niqab are a minority and a good portion who wear the niqab in canada are not FORCED. to deny women who wear the veil to wear it, will be denying them freedom of practising their faith or their understanding of spirituality it is about time that we start representing ourseleves and not let others decide what articles of clothing should we be worn. if you are a niqabi or a woman who wears the niqab please sign the petitition and forward to all other niqaab wearers.
