The silence from the company is frustrating but it only confirms that they are waiting for us to lose interest. It is exhausting to keep pushing when there is no response yet I know we have to keep going because this feature was a bridge for many of us. I am still here and I am still tracking every bit of feedback you leave.

This was the only way I could talk to my brother overseas. Just add parental controls if you are worried about kids instead of ruining it for everyone else.

my boyfriend and i live in different countries and this would have been something that made us really happy to do together, aside from only playing games. another thing is that there aren't really any other messaging systems available making structured social gameplay more difficult and sometimes almost impossible. this is a bad decision and lots of people are mad about it. i dont know why this petition has only the amount of signatures it has when people all over the internet are bothered by this. things like this make me want to stop supporting nintendo.i grew up with their products and so did a lot of other people and this company is constantly letting this demographic down, by pandering to the new generation as well as us and failing at it. if this has to do with lewd photographs/pictures/soundclips being sent to minors, and nintendo is trying to avoid some kind of lawsuit it can be easily fixed by a disclaimer and/or age limit. we already have parental controls and account numbers- and that should be enough, as the rest is the fault of the user. (if a parent buys a product for their child they should take responsibility for how it is used instead of blaming a company) this decision has reduced functionality a lot and taken away one of the core features of this product. someone should call nintendo out for false marketing- oh, but we agreed to the terms and conditions. so, why wasnt a clause for something like this in them? or is this about something else, after all? if nintendo does something more like this im doubtful ill buy another product from them, and im sure lots of the older generation is considering to follow suit, despite being won over a long time ago.

Ridiculous decision. Swapnote was basically the main reason I even bought a 3DS. Why punish all your users just because of a few bad apples?
