Over the last three months it has become apparent that the security within Nightingale House is compromised. My flat, 21, was broken into with no signs of forced entry, last night my neighbour had a locksmith come because her lock had been tampered with and seh could enter her flat, our letting Agent Courtney has contacted a number of us to ask whether or not people have been 'breaking' into our flats and using our toilets. And, they have, without forced entry. Our front entry door hasn't worked properly for over 2 years and the exterior doors an regularly left ajar because of improper latches. And finally our contract bind us to allowing the letting agent and their contractors to have access to our flats on 24 hours notice with or without us being present at the time. However, at the same time our contract states that the landlord and letting agents have duty of care to ensure that our flats and the premise is secure. Not only is the security of the building compromised but so is the the security of our individual flat. This petition is to ask the letting agents and landlords take action on three things: 1. Fix the entry door system 2. Replace the dead bolt locks on the flats under their care 3. Improve the latches on the remaining doors especially the one leading to the garbage If you also want these to be fixed please sign this petition and I will take it forward with Courtney. We then replaced the locks on our own expense and the problem was solved..... We agree totally with the security improvements suggested by Scott.
