We, the Nigerian youths hereby call on the federal government to relieve the Comptroller General of NIS; each participating states' Comptroller Generals; All Human resources managers at the federal and state levels; All Finance and Accounts managers at the federal and state levels; the Minister of Interior Affairs, of their duty(s) or demand their resignation due to their lack of competency and indifference to the masses in Nigerian. We also that demand the federal government to declare the 4500 NIS positions vacant and the new recruitment should be devoid of nepotism and incompetency. Furthermore the families of the victims should be duly compensated and also ensure that the ongoing probe becomes conclusive in a record time. These would act as a deterrent to government officials on any future spurious attempts to exploit Nigerians.

Following the recent Nigerian immigration service recruitment exercise, in which several were injured and 20 lives were lost due to incompetency on the part of the NIS. Over one million youths paid N1000 each to apply for the 4500 NIS jobs however over 200 000 applicants were shortlisted for the interview.

Lagos and Abuja had more than 125 000 applicants. Due to this large number, the exam took place in a stadium, other states also recorded more than ten thousand applicants. The examination was written in an overly crowded environment, where question papers were not only distributed but also thrown. furthermore over N66 million were raked in from the exercise and unfortunately, recent fact showed that the NIS could not account for the money.

In a sane country, the unfortunate development that marred the exercise is enough for the top officials of the NIS to resign. Regrettably the Minister of Interior Affairs also showed his lackadaisical and lack of empathy for (the) common Nigerians by attributing their poor performances to the applicants’ behaviours rather than accepting their faults.

In conclusion, it is obvious that the examination was just a sham to waste lives, ridicule and exploit the job seekers and the worse of it all to make money at the poor. It will be a crime against humanity if the federal government fails to acknowledge our petition and also it would affirm the general notion that the present FG lack of accountability to Nigerians.
