We, the undersigned, believe that the Social Studies' National History Day (NHD) project that Boyertown Area High School sophomores are required to complete each year is inherently flawed, resulting in poor grades for students across the board. This is an issue that has been addressed by parents, students, teachers, and administration in the past, but the results remain the same. After four months of research and preparation, the majority of students do poorly. This is a heavily-weighted project and results in many students declining a letter grade or two for the semester. We respectfully request this project be removed completely from the curriculum and that students' grades be adjusted this year to reflect this project as an "extra credit" project only.
