855 Anonymouslooks like the high school has not had much work done on it since i left 27 years ago
856 AnonymousA purpose built new High school will drive education forward and undoubtedly inject a fresh impetus into both the pupils and the community as a whole!
857 Donald MorrisonI went to Wick High in the early 80s and even then the old building was starting to look tacky. If after more than 20 years the newer buildings are also starting to look past their best then , Highland Council must do more to upgrade the school, money shouldn't just go to Inverness.
858 susan grahamas a parent of four children one of whitch will start at wick high in two years time i am concerned about the environment in which they are expected to learn in.

860 Roderick FlemingI taught in the Mathematics department of Wick High School in the 2006/2007 year and some of the buildings clearly looked in need of re-developing compared to other schools which I have taught in.

864 Catriona MillerI have no children of school age, but I may, in the future have grandchildren who might go to Wick High School. I don't want them to be in a potentially dangerous environment. School should be safe place for all concerned, pupils and staff alike.

868 Kyle GunnI will be going into the school after the Summer, and I dont think its as bad as the Groat and the Courier say, but a new one would be cool :D

871 Billy MansonI live beside the High School and can remember when the Temporary buildings were erected for a so called period of 15 yrs. unfortunately they are still there after 40 yrs or so. I think it is high time a new School is Built when money is spent on other things which are not so important

880 Iain BaikieThe WHS campaign has certainly gathered momentum and more and more people are now urgently aware that a new school for Wick High is an emergency priority. For longer than a decade the Highland Council has woefully failed in it is duty to provide basic educational needs and have effectively operated a two-tier system in the Region. Changes in the council administration are now absolutely necessary as current policy contains zero aspirations for a new school and consequently will fail further generations of Caithness children. The executives in HRC were formally informed about the state of about the state of Wick High since the School Inspectors visit in March 1998 and their own commissioned school surveys. There were sufficiently concerned to put WHS on a new Build list. Whoever took the school off the new build list knew exactly what they were doing and in doing so passed a dismal sentence on the current and future pupils of WHS who now have to put up with this dump. They made a calculated decision to ‘write-off’ the educational needs of our children and worse they were so arrogant they thought they could get away with it. Many may feel this was moral bankruptcy that they are tainted by this action and unworthy of our respect and future trust. I am heartily sick of executives from HRC coming to Wick year after year either to the school or events such as the recent Caithness regeneration conference and repeatedly saying they will “go back, take it on board and come back with suggestions”. They received the straightforward messages from both the Youth Conference and the First Minister ‘straight between the eyes’, but I have completely lost faith that they either have the will or competence to act in the best interest of our children. If you are familiar with the children’s story about the emperor’s new clothes, then in my opinion the Head of Education and the Head of the Highland Council stand absolutely naked in front of both our children and people of Caithness. I do not know how they can look at themselves in the mirror each morning. There continued presence in the roles they currently occupy is prejudicial to a solution.
881 greta lawrencethe children of Wick should have a new school building. Giving money to "patch up " is not sufficient.

884 Graeme AllanAs a former student (1978-1984) and Head Boy (1984) I am very upset to see the condition of the School. I have very many happy memories of a great education. I will be keeping track from my current home in Perth, Australia. Good luck. Graeme

892 rebecca Cooperi used to go to this school and i think that it would help everyone if it was replaced
893 John MackayHighland Council and central government should both take the condition of the school more seriously than they currently appear to. It is unacceptable for the local council to squander funds on unneccesary bilingual road signage while they are unable to meet their commitments to provide educational premises in suitable condition

899 Diane McGuireOur children deserve a modern, safe and beneficial environment to learn their future skills. These children are the our future!!! Its about time councillors realised the potential of our children by providing them with opportunities for the skills to be shown.
900 Ian SinclairWithout the prospect of a new school that is safe to work in, friendly environs and a beacon for the future how do we expect the pupils and staff to have any pride in the educational system that they are forced to work in day after day. A new school with Science, Engineering and Technology facilities would put Wick firmly on the educational map for the future.
