Name: Annie O'Neill on Jun 17, 2008Comments: I live in Gardiner, but New Paltz has always been where I shop and eat. It is already difficult to get through town at peak times and I can imagine the nightmare we will have to face in the future. It is not fair to put a burden on people who live in neighborhoods nearby since they will soon be faced with constant bypass traffic. Please keep New Paltz the way it is: A very special town that has all the smalltown resources that are farreaching in cultural, gastronomic and recreational possibilities. Keep it that way.Flag

Name: Anonymous on Jun 17, 2008Comments: As an Alum of SUNY New Paltz, I find this an extremely disturbing development. While as a student there the levels of air pollution were out of control. This was not due to the students as the college has not substantially grown. The seasonal leaf peepers were not the cause of the deteriorating environment either. What has really gone wrong with the town has been the unbridled construction of new houses with scant regard for the huge impact that this has on the well being of the entire valley. The lame argument that an increased tax base will keep the cost of public services down is a total myth. A train link might be far more advantageous.Flag

Name: Sunita Halasz on Jun 18, 2008Comments: New Paltz is a beautiful, unique community that we visit several times a year specifically because of it's character and small-town feel. This suggested development would ruin our enjoyment in visiting and lead to fewer visits on our part.Flag

Name: Mikhail Horowitz on Jun 19, 2008Comments: I lived in new Paltz from 1967 to 1980. I was actively involved in the first protests against fast-food restaurants and large malls and the subsequent cutting down of many of the grand old trees on Main Street, all of which helped transform a beautiful village into a simulacrum of Paramus from Mannheim to the Thruway. I strongly oppose this latest abomination, which is not needed and which would further, maybe irrevocably, diminsh the remaining charms of the village.Flag
