Name: Mia Smith on Jun 17, 2008Comments: I would like to register my disgust at the New Paltz Planning and Town Board at their consideration of such a monstrosity. Hasn't anyone learned from the Lowes debacle The place is empty most of the time, the service is appaling, the staff are clueless and all it has done is put a strain on local business owners and impacted the financials of the Town of Lloyd. Wake up Planners ! The value of New Paltz lies within it's distinct character. I moved here becasue I don't want to live in a Target Town !!!Flag

Name: Michael MacElhinei on Jun 17, 2008Comments: There is a reason that many of us chose to live here and not in Middletown - an actual community spirit and a lower level of suburban ugliness. We already have more than enough access to retail through the existing business base and surrounding towns. Please do not allow yet another blight on our beautiful town. thank youFlag

Name: Richard Miller on Jun 17, 2008Comments: I grew up in New Paltz and am a long time resident, a practicing architect, and former chair of the Town Historic Preservation Commission. This is a short-sighted unnecessary and inappropriate project, one that will not benefit and indeed irrevocably compromise the character of our community, In addition, historically, the ground below the site is a primary aquifer that was to be protected as a source of fresh drinking water.Flag

Name: Katherine Preston on Jun 17, 2008Comments: This is unconscionable. Just because it's not Wal-Mart (yet) doesn't mean it's good, or good for New Paltz. Look at Poughkeepsie, Kingston, probably Highland-- there are people who DON'T EVEN KNOW that the historic areas of these towns exist because these towns have become synonymous with mall shopping and chain stores. New Paltz deserves better, and this sort of proposal is an outrage.Flag

Name: Marlene Wiedenbaum on Jun 17, 2008Comments: It will be a major beachhead for national chain stores looking to skim tourist dollars before they get downtown. This project will not benefit Town residents. It will only make New Paltz the same as every other strip-malled locale.Flag

Name: Tanya Hannington on Jun 17, 2008Comments: This town doesn't need developing, that is why we live here. The roads already have too much traffic on them, this development will not add to the beauty or the environmental well being of this town; It will destroy a rare and wonderful small town.Flag
