The General Election is over but I still remain committed to fight for a maternity facility for Newbury. Whatever your political persuasion, I hope that you will join me.
There have been two recent stories which again highlight the need for a midwife led maternity unit at our Community Hospital. Newbury Weekly News reported that one lady had given birth at the Newbury Retail Park on the way to Basingstoke and another gave birth on the M4 as she made her way to Reading. How much simpler if women with uncomplicated births could give birth in Newbury as used to happen when Sandleford was still open on Newtown Road. We really do need this facility back in the town. The campaign continues....
