Newarthill has been forgotten by North Lanarkshire Council when it comes to our kids. Holytown, Bellshill, Cleland, Carfin, Viewpark and almost every town/village in the NLC area has had a safe modern kids play area installed, or an astroturf all weather football area. Newarthill has not only not had nothing provided for kids, its actually had them removed. The welfare park now has no kids play area, where there had been for over 40 years. The grass park between Caledonia Drive & Woodilee Rd has had goalposts removed. The grass area between Law drive and Glenburn Rd has also had goalposts not replaced. The new modern kids play areas & football/basketball areas in other villages in the area, are built to withstand vandalism, and provide a safe area for kids of all ages to play in. So why not Newarthill.
