| 3 | Joey Schwartz | Another example of how the NDP has become less reflective of the ethnic diversity of the province by virtue of its internal governance policies. |
| 4 | B. Ross Ashley | |
| 5 | Kimberleyb Fry | Wow. this is disgusting and downright anti-democratic. this is such a good opportunity to reinvigorate the party but yet again they have gone and shot themselves in the foot. Shame. Who is on the executive and who's idea was this? |
| 6 | Brian Thorn | |
| 7 | A. Lehrer | The NDP needs to have a leadership race that includes a diverse field, including new people with new ideas. Limiting the field in this way is myopic and this looks like nothing but a cash grab. If you want to make sure candidates are serious, require them to get 1,000 signatures but $15K is ridiculous. |
| 8 | Andrew Klochek | It is rather ironic that the most expensive entrance fee is in a province where we are unlikely to form government in the near future. |
| 9 | Adrienne Barnes | As a long time member of the NDP, I am absolutely appalled by this decision. Shame. |
| 10 | Annamarie Bohus | I am a member of the Brampton-Springdale NDP executive, and I am voicing my outrage at this elitist action by my party -- a party that I joined because I had believed it to be the ONLY party of equity and fairness. With this objectionable action, you have shown that you are not really different from the other 2 parties. Shame on you!! |
| 11 | Gail McCabe | I understand that the Provincial NDP have debt and of course, see the leadership race as an opportunity to draw in some funds. However, this is no way to do it ... by all means, charge individuals with large incomes $15,000.00 ... charge them even more ... and for those individuals with low incomes and many responsibilities ... lower the bar!! |
| 12 | Gordon Doctorow | |
| 13 | Sean Cain | As a socialist party, there shouldn't be any financial barriers for political participation, whether it's running as an NDP candidate or for the leadership of the party. |
| 14 | Dieter Doneit-Henderson | Just another step in the wrong direction for the NDP...Yet Again...Like the thousands of other missteps.
Working for families, helping out those in need? Sure IF the NDP likes the cause, they ignore the likes of Sacha Bond and call themselves the people's party.
It's all smoke and mirrors!
I give the party, regardless of territory, another 5-10 years.
Good riddance to bad leadership and worse, horrible communication!

| 15 | Devin Johnston | This is very disappointing from a party that champions equity and access. The fee should be lowered substantially. |
| 16 | Jan Johnstone | this is a class issue |
| 17 | Barry Weisleder | The petition is a very good initiative. To survive, the NDP must turn left, and become more democratic and accessible -- not get further entrenched with the privileged and pro-business policies. |
| 18 | Harry McAlister | There should be NO financial cost to a member standing for election to lead this party. |

| 24 | Maurie Shorten | $15000.00 is too much to ask. Thanks |
| 25 | John Orrett | Not only is the entree fee too high but the spending limit of $500,000 is an outrage. This will result in the leading candidates spending too much time outdoing each other in fund raising to the detrement of serious political policy making. |
| 26 | Jim Laxer | The last thing the party needs right now is a leadership race effectively limited to only a few obvious candidates who can be expected to agree with each other on almost everything. Throw open the windows and let some air in. |
| 27 | Daniel J. Beals | What is next? Will people be able to pay for the ability to speak out of turn at Provincial Council?
DJB. |
| 28 | Matthew Hodgetts | |
| 29 | Anita Agrawal | Since money is indeed a concern for the NDP - I understand that they might want to use this as an opportunity to fundraise. For that reason, I think it would be a good idea for them to put a sliding scale for the leadership race. Why not? Afterall, most of the MPP's can infact well-afford the $15,000 to run - so they should be the ones to pay that fee - plus, they have the added advantage of recognition in the race anyways.
As for everyone else - why not keep it fair at BC's level, $3500, which is still a lot to raise for most people anyways. This resolution is undemocratic and hinders equity. |
| 30 | marlene monster | What actually happens to this entry fee? |
| 31 | Patrick Douglas LeGay | |
| 32 | Rob Wagner | The fee should be reasonable.
It is counter-productive to the NDP way of doing things by excluding candidates based on an urealistic entry fee. |
| 33 | Paul Whittaker | We need more carpenters, plumbers, farmers and the like in Parliament. There are too many Lawyers and corporate hacks in there now and it shows. |
| 34 | Karen Gventer | |
| 35 | Mike Constable | |
| 36 | Norm Slater | |
| 37 | Alissa Paxton | Peterborough ON Riding Association Executive Member |
| 38 | Catherine Kaye | This is a matter which should have been discussed by our membership and voted on by them. I would have voted against it |
| 39 | Sean Smith | As an NDP member I feel in the strongest terms that the NDP should be as inclusive and democratic as possible. This high entry fee will ensure that many without big money backers will be unable to take part in this process. This election should be about ideas, not bank accounts. |
| 40 | Steve Sharpe | |
| 41 | Matt Fodor | |
| 42 | Shahid Gardezi | |
| 43 | Jim Rootham | |
| 44 | Susan Stout | where's the equity? |
| 45 | sean haberlin | We seem to have an executive that equates commitment with money. Our membership fee is $25.00 if your fully employed and $10.00 if you are poor. Here's hoping that they don't apply the same two-tier logic to our leadership candidates and just simply apply a reduction in fees across the board. |
| 46 | Simon Threlkeld | The $15,000.00 fee looks plainly undemocratic to me, and I would think to just about any reasonable person who thinks about it. |
| 47 | Tyler Banderob | Let us never forget the the New Democratic party is one committed to social justice and the belief that all human beings are equal, regardless of economic status. To attach a $15,000 pricetag to candidacy is to thumb one's nose at those who are already impoverished and underpowered. I trust the ONDP executive to do the right thing. |
