The below signatures represent concerned residents of North Chodikee Lake Road and Carly Drive located in Highland, New York. The issue of speeding cars on North Chodikee Lake Road has reached a level that can no longer be tolerated. Over the past several years the amount of traffic has increased. These drivers have no regard for the safety of our children or the residents of North Chodikee and Carly Drive. They Ignore the posted speed limit of 35mph and have us in fear of a serious accident looming in our future. Employees of the NYS Highland Family Residential Center are the worst offenders as are members and families of the Hasidic religious summer camp group. Not only are they speeding but they are also passing cars and tailgating. After many calls and complaints to the State Residential Center, the Town of Lloyd Police and the NY State Police the problem still continues. From Hawleys Corners road to the "Y" at the entrance to the State school a distance of approximately 1000 feet , there are 41 children that are exposed to these speeding cars every day. This is not Rt. 299 or 9W, this is a residential street with no sidewalks or road shoulders available. We are petitioning the Town of Lloyd to help us and to take action on our behalf.
