Name: Ebony Burroughs on Nov 4, 2012Comments: I have been very disappointed with my experience in this course. I started my graduate studies at Capella University and had instructors who understood they were working primarily with working professionals and knew how to teach graduate level courses in an online environment. As an alumnae of A&T and the School of Technology, I am sad to say I would not feel comfortable recommending the IT program to friends and colleagues who may also be interested in pursuing their graduate degrees. Dr. Bousaba has been absent, condescending, inconsistent, and contradictory to his own syllabus. I do not believe Dr. Bousaba is qualified to instruct distance learners, and I believe he lacks familiarity with the coursework he is responsible for facilitating. I was personally offended with an email response to the class earlier in the semester where he stated he is a part time instructor and therefore, did not have time to meet with us or speak to the students requesting scheduled meeting times during office hours. Rightfully so, his expectation for the students is to participate and turn in assignments on time and budget work and study time accordingly. We as students have the same expectation of our instructor to be present and accessible so many of the class members are struggling to understand the requirements. Dr. Bousaba has not been a contributor to the success of the class as a facilitator.Flag

I have been displeased with the “wait and see” approach. I believe that at this level we should be highly aware of what our grade is throughout the semester. The lack of professionalism and instruction in this course has often made me reevaluate my attendance in this program.Flag

Not sure why Dr. BouSaba was so insolent and didn't feel an obligation to help the students or to provide any instruction at all. If I treated my customers the way he treated his customers, I would certainly be fired. As this was my first semester at NC A&T, Dr. BouSaba certainly did not represent his employer well at all and he made a horrible first impression on me. I certainly wouldn't recommend this program or the University to anyone at this time.Flag

Homesick for all the wrong reasons, I transferred back East to Syracuse, where I graduated with a major in Creative Writing. It was RP who set me on that course, literally, to becoming a professional writer. Even so, looking back, I wish I had styaed at Cornell. I will never forget how RP brought F. Scott Fitzgerald to life for me. I couldn't become him, but RP taught me to be myself. I, too, am forever grateful. He was my first teacher, in the sense of being the first TO whom I actually sat up, leaned forward, and listened with a rapt and sharpened awareness and interest that has never waned. So I will always remember him as my mentor, as well.Flag

My first English class at Cornell was the Fitzgerald semininar, and I was lucky enough to be in the seminar that Linda Schinke-Llano mentions. Though I wish I had been able to be a poet, I have spent 35 years teaching poetry to high school students. Robert Dana started me along this life path, and I will always be in his debt. So, too, are my students.Flag
