I was recently in Memphis, TN watching a few Grizzlies games and it saddened me to see the lack of turnout for the games. An NBA franchise would flourish in Hampton Roads area or Richmond. The people of the area would come out and support the team every night. In Hampton Roads a team could play at the Hampton Coliseum until a modern arena could be built. In Richmond the Richmond Coliseum could house the team unitl a new arena is built. Rumor has it, that a new arena that would seat 16,000 to 20,000 and cost $148 million may be in the works for the city of Richmond. There are 2 teams that I could see relocating to Virginia, the New Orleans Hornets and the Sacramento Kings. The Hornets are currently owned by the NBA and looking for someone to buy the team. Maybe the new owner would consider relocating to Virginia. The Kings owners currently want a new arena. If, a new arena was built in Virginia maybe the Maloof's would consider a move here. With the many professional athletes that have come out of Virginia it upsets me that there are no pro sport teams in the entire state. Having a team here would create lots of job opportunities and stimulate the local economy. Also, it would bring another family oriented venue to the area. Please sign this petition and pass it along. Once we get enough signatures I'm going to forward them to David Stern, Commissioner of the NBA and the Maloof's, owners of the Kings. With the many professional athletes that have come out of Virginia it upsets me that there are no pro sport teams in the entire state. We had the Squires of the ABA in Virginia back in the 70's. Lets bring them back. WE CAN DO THIS.
