Name: Richard E. Taylor on Jun 19, 2007Comments: The fire service at the local, state, or national level will not be able to budge on such an initiative until it understands that public organizations do not advance their cause absent a strategy to augment the perception of value the public has in them. The fire service is, and has been, in "maintenance management" mode for some time. It needs to look to grow.Flag

Name: Michael Love on Jun 20, 2007Comments: The Fire Service drifts away from the core responsibility to champion, promote and otherwise push fire and life safety and the prevention efforts that make this happen. Currently the national groups who are involved in advocating for the fire service in general all have some degree of a piece of fire and life safety but often it is secondary to the mission of fire prevention. It is necesarry to have a Movement whose sole purpose is to promote and drive strategic goals of fire and life safety.Flag

Name: Kurt W. Harris on Jun 25, 2007Comments: This year with all of the multifatality fires should remind each of us that there is much work to do in giving our populace the very best chance of never ending up as a fire fatality. I, like all of us in Fire Prevention, still fight the ignorance that runs rampant among both citizens and other factions of our cities. We must not give up the fight but instead, increase our efforts.Flag

Name: Robert D. Beane on Jun 26, 2007Comments: I just celebrated 40 years in the fire service, working at all levels of government. City, county, state, federal. I have direct experience seeing the reduction of fire deaths and injuries in America. There has also been a reduction in the deaths and injuries of fire fighters. We have come a long way, but we still have a long way to go in reduceing these numbers. Thank you for your efforts.Flag
