We, the undersigned Residents of Canada draw attention of the House to the following: THAT retired elders are living stressful lives due to significant financial inadequacies. The resulting impact on the health and well being of these proud Canadians must no longer be tolerated. The increase in the age of eligibility from 65 to 67 to qualify for the O.A.S. will serve as a hardship for future retirees and increased costs to Provincial and Municipal government. THEREFORE, your petitioners call upon Parliament to increase the Old Age Security Pensions, provide yearly increases and enhanced Cost of Living protection to ensure a decent standard of living for all retired Canadians. And we further call upon Parliament to rescind the increase in the age of eligibility from 65 to 67 to qualify for the O.A.S.
