Roberta Chalmers | This national treasure should not be made less accessible to the taxpayers.
Katie Steinhoff | The National Arboretum is such a beautiful resource and invaluable tool for sharing the research with the public. A garden tells the greatest story, by creating an entire scene for plants and the people and animals that use them. Because ornamental plants play such an important role in erosion control, cleaning air and water, and supporting the local wildlife, we cannot miss opportunties to inform the public. Please continue to provide appropriate funding for the National Arboretum.

Amy G. Skallerup | This is a heartbreaking, short-sighted piece of legislation. The National Arboretum is a unique oasis in an area that benefits particularly by its presence.

Julie M Manno | I think it would be a terrible loss for our Nation's capital to lose access to this public garden. Why is funding for the arts or other nonprofits that our government doesn't consider a necessity are always the first to go. Don't they realize that it is places like this that make life worth living and makes it enjoyable for all. This arboretum also reminds us of the beauty and fragileness of nature and the environment and that we need to do all we can to protect and preserve what we have left. I was very disheartened to hear about the funding cuts and the affect it will ahve on this org. I am from PA and work at a small public garden myself, so I feel for the employees and the residents of the DC area.

Kathleen Thuner | This is a national treasure...whoever proposed this cut missed the point of outreach and education. Its outreach and education that allows those of us who do not do research to understand the why research is needed. Future generations will not be able to understand why this "majoring in minors" budget cut ever was allowed to happen. Hopefully there are sufficient enlightened congressmen and congresswomen who can see the unintended "cost" of this so called budget cut. Shame on the ARS for proposing it!
Tom Skallerup | I urge that the National Arboretum's operations continue to be supported at the current levels.

William A. Stufflebeem | As a volunteer since 1994, I have met thousands of visitors from all over the United States and other parts of the world. It was clear to me from interacting with these visitors that the Bonsai Museum and its displays were often overwhelming in their impact. I have had people come to me with tears in their eyes pouring out their gratitude for this incredible experience. Please do what you can to restore the funding for this national treasure.
