Towards a: National Afrikan People’s Parliament
Petition to Prime Minister/Government
We the undersigned condemn, in the strongest possible terms, the unlawful killing of Mark Duggan, and the disingenuous, draconian, kneejerk reaction of the Prime Minister/government to the resultant uprisings. We further condemn state violations of the legal process and human rights, evident in fast track trials, excessive sentencing, housing evictions and cancellation of social benefits. We contend that the said reaction of the PM/government prompted a racist mass media offensive, which gave rise to incitement of racial hatred and violence and the mobilisation of the ‘far-right’ against Afrikan (Black) communities across Britain. We thus demand:
-
The immediate suspension and arrest of the officers who killed Mark Duggan;
-
An immediate end to the PM/government’s blinkered, short sighted, emotive approach; and
-
That the PM/government addresses the real underlying causes of this chain of events in roundtable consultations with the Afrikan (Black) community; which are:
-
Black deaths in custody;
-
Police harassment;
-
Social exclusion and deprivation;
-
Economic exclusion and marginalisation.
