Name: Kanishka Lahiri on Oct 16, 2008Comments: Traffic is destroying this once beautiful city. Sadly, reckless road widening is only going to make matters worse. There is still time for the BBMP to exercise commonsense, enlightened thinking, and prevent the downward spiral that this city is in. There are numerous cities that are gripped by a crisis of gridlock and pollution in spite of having the finest road infrastructure in the world (Los Angeles and Beijing are good examples) . This is an appeal to the BBMP to be careful in choosing the cities we try to emulate, and to allow citizens to have a larger say in choosing the direction in which we are headed.Flag

Name: Shridhar Sahukar on Oct 16, 2008Comments: I strongly oppose irrational road widening projects as they dont serve any purpose. They have adverse effect on environment and effect on lots of people who lose land, shelter etc for sake of these projects. So these road widening projects should be stopped and BBPM should find better alternatives for the traffic problems.Flag

Name: Laxmeesha Acharya on Oct 16, 2008Comments: Widening of roads to reduce congestion is simply a knee jerk reaction and an excuse for all concerned officials to make money from the contracts. Wider roads will only encourage people to buy more vehicles and we will be back to square one! Without doing a root-cause analysis of why we have congestion in the first place, no solution can be implemented to address this problemFlag

Name: L. Shyamal on Oct 16, 2008Comments: Looking at the throughput rates of Bangalore roads it becomes very apparent that uniformly narrow roads have a better flow than broad roads with kinks. A better idea would be to spend on making the road edges uniform and marking guiding lines for traffic and educating+disciplining road users.Flag
