Stop this Errant Parking Attendants
On the 16th of february, while visiting Nakuru, I parked my Canter-truck (3 tonnes) on Kasarani Road at a designated parking lot. I stood by my truck for ten minutes waiting for a yellow-overall wearing parking attendant to appear so as to pay my parking fees. With none showing up, the street traders informed me that the attendant is responsible for the entire block. There was a booth that was un-manned at the turn in, so i walked around the block in search. Upon return to the vehicle i found a clamping attendant arguing with the street vendors as he leaned over tying his chain onto my truck wheel. The parking attendant soon joined in the fray explaining she had made a loo break but it all fell on deaf ears.
I was given a Caution note # 14265 stating "you have not paid your Parking fees and your vehicle has been clamped! To get Declamped report to Town Hall Cash Office and pay Kshs 2660/-. Clamped N. M."
At the Town Hall, I was told Pay First. Which I did. After which I was told the Council does not refund!
Where is the justice in this.
What is the Point - If The Nakuru Municipal Council NMC can not effect an effective Parking Fees payment system where you the car owner would be in violation should you fail for example in paying at a booth at every Street corner rather than the practice of chasing after attendants who cannot man entire streets.
This is pure theft. They hide when you arrive and wait to clamp you. The whole council just wants to steal from us. Fix the system or stop the clamping!
