Name: Timothy McMillan on Apr 25, 2007Comments: I just paid $8500 for a used car in MA, the KBB quotes it at 83,300 for trade in. The NADA marks it at 11,800, thats almost a %50 markup! If the commonwealth of MA thinks my car is worth $12K I'll sell it to them for $10K and we both make out!Flag

Name: Leo F. Mulcahy on Oct 10, 2007Comments: I had this happen to me just recently when applying for my title at the Mass DMV, in assessing my vehicle's worth. Approx. 85 to 87 percent of car sellers utilize the KBB as their guidelines, not the NADA. Taxes suck, especially when you get a good deal on a vehicle. Why even have a title, since is suppose to be a legal binding contract between the seller and you.Flag

Name: Anonymous on Feb 14, 2008Comments: I agree wholeheartedly. Of course, I bring my NADA book with me when shopping and negotiate from there. If they sell me a car for NADA, i trade in my car for NADA. If they sell me a car for KBB value, I am willing to trade in for KBB value.Flag

Name: Donald Perry III on Apr 12, 2008Comments: If I pay taxes according to NADA then that is what I expect to be used as teh guage when I sell. Why is it being allowed for the consumer to be pushed around and taken advantage of by dealerships When they sell they quote the worth as by NADA (Higher), but come time to trade in, they swear by KBB (Significantly lower). Is this a fair practice I don't think so.Flag
