We believe that the mutilation and desecration of the flag of the United States of America should be against the law and should not be protected by the first amendment right of free speech. In the Supreme Court decision of Texas v. Johnson it was declared that prohibitions enforced in 48 of 50 states on the desecration of the American flag are unconstitutional because it is protected by the first Amendment right of free speech. We disagree with their decision. We believe that the symbol of the United States should be protected by law because of all the people who have gone before and died to protect it. We believe in establishing an amendment that protects the flag of this great nation.
