We are requesting Chief & Council to consent to the ballots be released to the Appellants for examination before resuming the Election Appeal on January 15, 2013. (Election Appeal of the February 13. 2012 band election)

1.) The Appellants believe the lack of secured ballot boxes during the election process has allowed foreign ballots to be introduced into the voting system;

2.) The absence of the Ballot Account by the Electoral Officer means the voting system cannot confirm ballot usage count or ballot origin, the ballot account is one of the steps required to safeguard the voting system;

3.) The only safeguard today is to examine each ballot for ballot authenticity by checking for the Deputy's initials, if the Deputy's initials exist authentic ballot and if no initials exist than foreign ballot.

Please note: In the 2009 Appeal process the Ballots were made available to both parties and the ballots was part of the evidence that was before the Appeal Tribunal.

We, the undersigned, request the Chief & Council to authorize their legal counsel to inform the Appeal Tribunal that they consent to the release of the ballots before resuming the Appeal hearing on January 15, 2013. This early consent in writing to the Appeal Tribunal will allow time for examination of the ballots and eliminate any further delays of the Appeal hearing.

In order to sign the Petition you must be a member of the Muskeg Lake Cree Nation who is 18 years of age.
