When I was a child, there was nothing you could do to make me eat mushrooms. NOTHING. You could have dangled immortality in front of my face and I still wouldn't have caved. Because I didn't get it. I was a dumb ass kid and the only foods I wanted to eat were covered in either sugar or cheese. But as we all know, when you grow up, so do your taste buds.

I brought to my mom's attention a few days ago that I have grown to love the taste of mushrooms. Not just "like" – I will actively seek them out in a dish now. To me this signifies tangible growth and maturity. If only my mom felt the same way.

With this petition I'm hoping to convince my mom that this event is worthy of announcement and celebration. On Facebook.
