The Israeli authorities finally backed down and Munther is staying in his home. We forced them to acknowledge that this cultural pillar cannot be erased. Keep your eyes open because we are not done watching their tactics.
We are signing this petition in support of Munther Fahmi's right to continue to live in East Jerusalem and not be deported by Israeli authorities.
Munther is the founder and owner of the Bookshop at the American Colony Hotel in Jerusalem, a cornerstone of cultural life in Jerusalem. He offers an incredibly wide range of titles and fights to maintain a small but vital space of free and independent thought and debate.
He is being threatened with imminent deportation.
I am signing this petition to assert Munther Fahmi's right to live and work in Jerusalem, the city of his birth.
The Israeli authorities think they can quietly erase a pillar of our community while the world looks away. I am spending every waking moment fighting this deportation and the silence from those in power is a disgrace. Do not let Munther be forced from his own home.

This is a wonderful bookstore! we were introduced to books that helped us to understand the complexities of personal and political life in Palestine/Israel.
